Crash Avoiding Volvo Fails to Avoid Crash
Hit the Sad Trombone – and try not to laugh too hard. Volvo’s new enhanced Collision Avoidance System is currently set to be installed on all next year C60 models. It’s a good thing they test this stuff over and over again before selling it. The vehicle was shot from Volvo’s testing tunnel at around 30 MPH, and the collision detection system should have kicked in, bringing the car to a stop before hitting a truck set in its path. Well…
As you can see, that didn’t happen. Reporters on the scene earlier that day witnessed other Volvo models successfully complete this exam without incident. Unfortunately, the only video footage they have is of the failed avoidance – which we have available to you for your laughing pleasure:
